Fr. Simeon Gallagher -" Phylactries and Tassels: The Challenge to Total Conversion"
About the Theme: Phylacteries and Tassels are mentioned in a number of Scriptural references (Deut. 6:8; 11:8; Exodus 13:9, 16) but in Matthew 13:5 Jesus uses the image to indicate a lack of complete conversion. He asks the Pharisees to forego externals in favor of the internal conversion of the heart. It was a challenge for them and is an on-going challenge for believers today. This retreat will look at the implications for us today.
